Intended use:This immunoassay kit allows for the specific measurement of rat Carboxyterminal propeptide of type I procollagen,PICP concentrations in cell culture supernates, serum, and plasma.
Introduction:Type I collagen is found in several different types of connective tissues throughout the rat body, but most of it is present in bones, where it forms more than 95% of the organic matrix.Type I collagen is synthesized as a procollagen containing propspride extensions at both ends of the molecule.
Test principle:This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for PICP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PICP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. An enzyme-linked monoclonal antibody specific for PICP is added to the wells.
